they will tell you
to never bow down
before anyone

they will tell you
not to give away
your “own” power

they will pour scorn
on your invocations
and your prayers

they will dismiss
your open-hearted ache
for all things wild and abused

they will laugh
at your love affair
with silence

hold them to your heart –
they know not what they do

they do not know
the open secret
too obvious for the intellect,
too close to be grasped

they do not know
the bliss of humility
that bathes the body
and silences the mind
when one has melted into All
and all flows into One

expressing as It wills

‘I’ is the only player

there has been rain in the night
and the earth’s breath
is fresh and fruity this dawn

what am I?
I am Awareness
that ‘I am’ not
and only ‘I’ is

intellectual acceptance of this
isn’t difficult;
self thinks it has understood something
and is pleased

but as acceptance percolates down
into the darker layers
something called me
isn’t so happy

the battle of battles begins
the outcome is inevitable –
winners in every corner
all bets collectible

turns out there was
only one Player!

Level 1         I am my body

Task:  locate body

Outcome:  cannot specifically locate body

Conclusion:  body appears to be a sequence of sensations

 

Level 2        I am my sensations, feelings

Task:  locate whereabouts of senses

Outcome:  unable to locate senses, only find sensorial data

Conclusion:  senses appear to be a mental functioning – a knowingness

 

Level 3        I am my knowledge

Task:  locate knowledge database

Outcome:  unable to objectively locate either knowledge or knowingness

Conclusion:  knower, knowingness and knowledge appear to be inseparable from Consciousness

 

Level 4        I am Consciousness

Task:  locate Consciousness

Outcome:  unable to find Consciousness as an object separate from the seeker thereof – I

Conclusion:  Consciousness appears to be what I is

 

Level 5         I am…  I am…  I am… I am…

!!!!!!! does not compute !!!!!! system is shutting down !!!!!!!
